Trent Reznor previews the ‘Gone Girl’ soundtrack and it’s as creepy as you’d expect

The inspiration for Gone Girl’s soundtrack — the third collaboration between director David Fincher and musicians Trent Reznor (Nine Inch Nails) and Atticus Ross — differs by one key word. Here’s Reznor’s description, as told to the Wall Street Journal, followed by Fincher’s slight correction:

Reznor: “[Fincher] said, ‘Think about the really terrible music you hear in massage parlors… The way that it artificially tries to make you feel like everything’s OK. And then imagine that sound starting to curdle and unravel.'”
