Lenovo is working on a successor to its unique Yoga Book convertible

See the original posting on The Verge

Lenovo seems to be working on a follow-up to the Yoga Book — the company’s 2016 convertible laptop that swapped out a regular keyboard for a configurable, touch-sensitive surface.

According to regulatory filings logged at the Bluetooth SIG website (and spotted by Liliputing), the Chinese tech company is developing two new products: one “Lenovo Pen Pro,” and one “YogaBook2 Pro.” Obviously we can’t say much about these devices from their names alone, but it does suggest sequels are on the way to the 2016 computer and digital pen.

The original Yoga Book was intriguing; an ultra-thin convertible with a 10.1-inch screen that was available running Android (for $500) or Windows 10 ($650). You could use it as a straight tablet, a digital…

Microsoft’s Android launcher now lets you track your kid’s location and app usage

See the original posting on The Verge

Microsoft is bringing a new location tracking feature to its Android launcher app. Available in preview, the new family tracking feature lets Microsoft Launcher users track the last known location of their family members. The launcher also includes an activity report of what apps are being used on a device and for how long, similar to Microsoft’s family account feature.

Microsoft’s Android location tracking is part of a broader set of family-focused improvements on Android and the web. While Microsoft has always supporting website blocking on Windows PCs, the software maker is extending this feature to Android as well. Any existing Microsoft family group website blocks for Windows machines will now carry over to Edge for Android, making…

Yikes: A massive swarm of mayflies cover Louisiana gas station

See the original posting on Boing Boing

Kenny Hickman stopped to get a tank of gas from a station on Military Road in Slidell, Louisiana and discovered it was covered in A SWARM OF MAYFLIES! So, instead of pumping gas, he shot this video which his wife Sandy Callegan Hickman posted on Facebook. It will undoubtedly make your skin crawl.

FYI: This site tells you ways to “survive” a mayfly swarm.

Tracking CubeSats for $25

See the original posting on Hackaday

CubeSats are tiny satellites which tag along as secondary payloads during launches. They have to weigh in at under 1.33 kg, and are often built at low cost. There’s even open source designs for these little spacecrafts. Over 800 CubeSats have been launched over the last few years, with many more launches scheduled in the near future.

[Thomas Cholakov] coupled a homemade cloverleaf antenna to a software-defined radio to track some of these satellites. The antenna is built out of copper-clad wire cut to the correct length to receive 437 MHz signals. Four loops are connected together and terminated to …read more

“Quasi-neoreactionary libertarian” candidate for congress admits pedophilia

See the original posting on Boing Boing

Just when you were thinking of voting for antisemitic racist neoreactionary libertarian Hitler fan Nathan Larson, I’m afraid something’s emerged about him that might make you think twice.

He is also a pedophile, as he admitted to HuffPost on Thursday, who has bragged in website posts about raping his late ex-wife.

In a phone call, Larson confirmed that he created the now-defunct websites suiped.org and incelocalypse.today ? chat rooms that served as gathering places for pedophiles and violence-minded misogynists like himself. HuffPost contacted Larson after confirming that his campaign website shared an IP address with these forums, among others. His sites were terminated by their domain host on Tuesday.

He still has high hopes! After all, Americans are tired of all the political correctness.
